River Camel news

Sorry that my first report is overshadowed by the death of the former Fowey Chairman, Paul Eliot, of the Wainsford Fishery. He will be sadly missed, and my condolences go out to his family. Coincidentally we a fin clipped 5lb grilse here at Butterwell, just before he passed away, reminding us all how important the Hatchery has become in boosting salmon numbers on the Camel. Generally salmon have been a bit scarce this week here at Butterwell, suggesting that there not many entering the river over the recent high tides, or they are running on the resonable flow levels this week.
I hope everyone is finding the gauge useful. Zero is set at very low summer level here at Butterwell
